World AIDS Day

Doves and Ribbons Day  12pm – 5pm
Palmerston Lane & Flinders Way  Manuka

After the success of last years “A Night in the Palms”, a Worlds AIDS Day event, the local Manuka Traders are putting on another fund raising event this year, “Doves and Ribbons Day”.

This year all the money raised will be donated to OzCots.

Flinders Way and Palmerston Lane will be closed off to traffic and opened up to fun and entertainment. There is going to be live music by Drum Assault, Blair Randall and the Wedded Bliss and others yet to be announced. As well as street performers and face painting.

The local traders will be participating in many different ways. There will be give aways, food and wine tasting, raffles, discounts and much, much more!

Info session and Hand over of cheque: 7 October 2008

On 7 October 2008 in partnership with Amnesty International ACT an INFORMATION SESSION where Lindy Nieuwenhuizen Marketing Manager from Cotlands spoke about the issues impact of HIV on women and children and the vital role that Cotlands plays in meeting their needs.

The South African Australia Association through the proceeds of its stall at the ACT Multicultural Festival donated $600 towards OzCots.  Katy Gallagher MLA officiated at the handover of this cheque. 

Ms Gallagher said “it’s heartening to see that the Community of Canberra has rallied to support children with incredible needs.  I know the funds raised have made a huge impact in supporting children in need in South Africa.”

1 December 2007

Aids Action Council of the ACT held an information stall, with live entertainment in Palmerston Lane, Manuka on 1 December 2007.

This was a magnificent opportunity for OzCots to promote its leadership programs. A number of shop keepers had their produce on display for people to taste and enjoy. It was a great opportunity for the broader community of Canberra to see the global impact of HIV/AIDS.

Cocktail at the Embassy of Greece

The Ambassador of Greece His Excellency Mr Zois and the High Commissioner of Cyprus His Excellency Mr Kritiotis jointly hosted a cocktail at the residence of Greece on 29 November 2007.

Guests had the opportunity to hear HE Mr Zois and HE Mr Kritiotis speak, as did Despina. A moving DVD was presented showing the home based care programs that Cotlands run in the townships. These home based care programs support grandmothers who are looking after their grandchildren - many of whom are HIV positive.

Guests had the opportunity to purchase silent auction items. Raiders Canberra kindly donated a signed jumper. This jumper assisted in raising approximately $9,100 was raised at this function. These funds will have a huge impact at Cotlands.
